Since 2023 I’ve been working with my wonderful friend and sonic artist Garling Wu on a project called Earthworks. This project is a collaborative album of new music responding to climate change, which brings together our respective backgrounds in contemporary classical and electroacoustic music, as well as drawing on wider influences.
We’re thrilled that our work “Sounding Bell” from Earthworks is going to be featured at the 2025 MANIFEST:IO Symposium for New Media & Electronic Art in Berlin, Germany on 22-23 February. We submitted this work for the open call “Fragmenting Places, Imagined Spaces”. Fortunately Garling is based in Berlin for the next few months for a residency so she will able to attend in person!
This follows a performance of the work in London last year which Garling also attended. It’s really special that this piece of music is connecting with people, particularly as it’s the first work we collaborated on for this project. We’re excited to finish up the other pieces in this collection and share them later in the year. Watch this space.
