With a passion for all things creative, Jessie’s versatile musical skill set has helped her achieve success as a performer, composer, songwriter and arranger. She has been working as a freelance musician since age 16 and performs as a singer and pianist around the country, on cruise ships and in bands.
Some of her highlights from 2018 include the first public workshop of her collaborative musical theatre project Take Back The Universe currently in development with playwright Marlon Richards, run by Red Scare Theatre Company in Wellington. She was selected to have her choral piece terram workshopped by Karen Grylls and the Auckland Chamber Choir and travelled to Wellington where orchestral piece the wilds was recorded and performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra as part of the Todd Corporation Young Composer Awards.
Jessie is a long-time barbershop singer, makes learning tracks and vocal arrangements for barbershop and a cappella groups, and volunteers as a national coordinator for Young Singers in Harmony NZ. She travels to judge youth competitions, runs workshops with her quartet and competes in national and international competitions.
After graduating from the University of Auckland in 2018 with First Class Honours in Music Composition, Jessie is focussing on various different musical projects and 2019 is continuing to bring exciting new opportunities.
