Summer is on it’s way! I’m thrilled to be heading to Adelaide in January for two weeks to take part in the Australian Youth Orchestra’s national music camp. I’m very grateful to be one of four composers selected to participate in the composition program, which is being led by composer Jessica Wells.
As a half Kiwi half Aussie who grew up in NZ, I’m particularly excited as this opportunity is a step towards my ongoing goal of connecting more deeply with my Australian heritage. I’m really looking forward to getting to know more of my peers in the Aus music scene – both composers and musicians.
I’m currently writing a new work for chamber orchestra which will be refined and rehearsed across the two weeks. It will then be performed at one of seven (!) concerts that are part of the AYO Summer Music Festival.
The concert, Through the Prism, is on Friday 17th January at 6.30pm at the University of Adelaide’s Elder Hall. Tickets and more information are available here.
