Super excited to have a piece from my collaborative project, Earthworks, featured in an outdoor listening event at London’s Dalston Curve Garden on 19 August.
Since late 2022 I’ve been working with my good friend Garling Wu, a composer and sonic artist, on Earthworks – chipping away on a collection of new music exploring our shared connection with the natural world, which brings together our respective practices of contemporary composition and electroacoustic music as well as exploring wider musical influences. The collaborative process has been hugely rewarding and with the composition phase wrapping up in October, we’re looking forward to getting our works recorded as the next step in this project.
We were thrilled to find out that our piece, “Sounding Bell”, was selected as one of ten works to be featured in What’s New?, an annual listening event in London run by In The Dark and Transmission Roundhouse.

As described by the organisers:
The event was born a few years ago to challenge the notion of “newness” in creative practice. The parameters are wide to include anyone who feels a sense of being new, whether that’s because of experience, exposure or craft, or whatever else. Nine curators sifted through over 250 submissions from makers around the world trying something “new” — from students to self-taught artists to established producers experimenting with new forms.
We’re thrilled that the event was sold out, with 150 people attending. Garling is based in London so she was able to attend which made it extra special! Sounding Bell closed out the evening as the final work in the programme. Very grateful that our work was included in this celebration of artists who are trying something new within the world of sound and music.
